Jump jive and wail your way to a night of live music at “The Swing Thing” March 4th, 2014 in the Boise State University Student Union Building, Simplot Ballroom. Doors open at 6 p.m. and dancing will last until 9 p.m. This event provides a wonderful opportunity for anyone who loves dancing, live music, or supporting student activities. Public parking is available in the Lincoln Parking Garage. Tickets for general admission are $5 ($3 for students).
The community is invited to this toe-tapping affair, which will include live music from the Boise State University Jazz Ensemble and a dance lesson of basic swing from 6-6:30 p.m. “The Swing Thing” will bring all of the glitz and glamour of The Great Gatsby. Refreshments will be provided and prizes awarded for best costume best couple, and best swing moves. There will also be a free photo booth to capture this memorable night. “This is an exciting opportunity for the Music Department to collaborate with student groups across campus. I highly encourage all to come out to The Swing Thing, even if you have never tried swing dancing before!” says Dr. Alex Noppe, Director of the BSU Jazz Ensemble.
“The Swing Thing” is presented by the Boise State Jazz Ensemble and co-hosted with Public Relations Student Society of America at Boise State University in cooperation with the Boise State Jazz Ensemble. Proceeds will aid the Jazz Ensemble and PRSSA to reach their goals for engaging in higher education opportunities.
