Emergent
An evening of professional dance presented by fourteen professional dancers comprising Kinetics Dance Company, Emergent will feature 7 works, including 5 premiers. The concert explores the power and scope of dance as it rises upwards and outward from a universal urge to move.
Artistic Director Lauren Snyder debuts two works. The first, "Urge," is an explosive piece for 6 dancers delving into the impulses and inevitability of movement. The second, "Bored Stiff," follows a simple rhythm as it builds to a full-fledge tap partnering duet. Company member Laura Farnen presents a poignant new group work and Desiree Koontz-Nachtrieb presents a new contemporary duet with partner Eric Holmes. Alex J. Krebs, Cj Cunningham, Koontz-Nachrieb and Holmes also present a new collaborative quartet merging dance forms from classical ballet to hip hop.
The concert also features a restaging of Spring Fever's "Shoulda Coulda Woulda," (2014), by Alex J. Krebs and work from Emerging Choreographer and former Kinetics Apprentice Company student Zahir Ringgold.
