Brave New Works Theatre Festival
The BOOM Theatre Co. is proud to announce the opening of the Brave New Works Theatre Festival, a presentation of five new creations produced under three simple guidelines:
1. All works must be produced on a budget of $20.
2. All works must fit within a 20-minute time slot.
3. Nothing is "off-limits" artistically, so long as the elements of the piece are not illegal.
Five directors have accepted this challenge of creating a new piece of performance art. Though designed to challenge the traditional methods of theatrical productions, the Festival is a masterclass in thinking creatively to accomplish a fully realized performance. These creations, after the "pressure-cooker treatment" of the Festival, may continue to be developed later by the directors, and audiences will be able to give feedback following each performance in a short, informal talk-back session.
The Brave New Works Theatre Festival line-up is as follows:
June 14/15:
TRUST, a new play written/directed by Joshua Fletcher
MAYELLA, a new ballet choreographed/directed by Kayleigh Daniels
DAMNED POETS, a new play written by Ryan Nicotra, directed by Dustin Horsman
June 28/29
LIKEWISE, a new play written by Judy Klass, directed by Erin Curran
SO WISE, SO YOUNG, a new play written/directed by Lisa Davidson
The purchase of one ticket guarantees admission to the Festival twice, in order to see all five pieces. Tickets purchased through this site will be valid for the performance date on the ticket, and the name on the ticket will be entered into our database. We will honor the ticket at the second performance of the ticketholder's choice. Seating is limited. Reservations are recommended, but not required. If a performance sells out, we will make an announcement on our Facebook and Twitter pages.
Group rates are available for groups of 10 or more. Please write to Ryan Nicotra (Festival Coordinator) at ryan.nicotra@yahoo.com for more information.
This Festival is recommended for audiences 16 years of age and older. Performances will begin at 7 PM on each date.
All performances will be held at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Harford County, located at 2515 Churchville Road, Churchville MD.
