The Arts Council is pleased to offer a free online painting workshop with local artist Donna Lahue on Wednesday, April 29, at 4 p.m. This is a free workshop that will be offered on the Zoom online platform. Although the class is free, there is a limit of 30 participants and each participant must sign up individually. You will receive log in information for the Zoom meeting after registration!

Local artist and Artists Collective member Donna LaHue will be walking participants through the steps of creating a non-representational, abstract landscape. A Colorado native Donna migrated around the country experiencing local color and lifestyles of the many and varied places she has called home.  She now resides in the Gallatin River Canyon near Big Sky, Montana. It is a place of open spaces, freestone rivers and rugged beauty. While the Montana landscape is an endless source of inspiration Donna finds contrast and diversity in time spent each year on the Big Island, Hawaii. These contrasting locales allow Donna to paint from the rich palettes of two starkly different environments.

Grab your favorite beverage and join Donna in painting “Evensong”.

Experienced painters are asked to use their own supplies. Suggested supplies include a canvas, paint brush, acrylic (or preferred paints) in primary colors, black, and white, sponge, water cup, sponge brushes (optional), rags, palette or disposable plate, easel (optional).

Free Painting Packets will be provided by the Arts Council, for those who don’t have a canvas and paints on hand.  The packets include a 15x20 canvas, paint brush, acrylic paint in primary colors, black and white. Supplies are limited and are “first come first serve”, so please register for the free paint packet by April 27th. Packets will be available for “curbside” pickup at the Arts Council Office in the Big Sky Meadow Village the afternoon of Tuesday April 28th and morning of Wednesday April 29th. If you register for the painting packet you will receive an email with additional pick up information.
