Join Pelham Youth Lacrosse in welcoming the Thompson Brothers (Lyle,
Miles and Jerome) for part 1 of this once in a lifetime lacrosse
experience organized to raise money for Pelham Youth Lacrosse and the
Harlem Lacrosse and Leadership Foundation. Enjoy a special private
screening of The Medicine Game followed by a
unique Q & A with the brothers led by long time friend, professional
lacrosse player and business partner, Bill O'Brien who is also featured
in the film. A film for boys and girls and all lacrosse enthusiasts, The Medicine Game is a film seven years in the making, that shares the remarkable journey of two brothers, Hiana and Jeremy
Thompson, hoping to break this troubling trend. The boys are driven by a
single goal: to beat the odds and play lacrosse for national powerhouse
Syracuse University. The obstacles in their way are frequent and
daunting, but the brothers’ love for the game and their family’s
unyielding determination propel these boys closer to their dream.
Tucked away in central New York State is the Onondaga Nation, a sovereign Native American community known to produce some of the top lacrosse players in the world. Yet, reluctance of leaving their community, substance abuse, and poverty have kept far too many of these players from venturing off the “Rez” and into collegiate or professional ranks.
Also, don't miss out on the opportunity to learn and play with the Thompson Brothers later that day at a special youth clinic limited to the first 160 registrants at the Sports Underdome in Mt. Vernon, NY from 1-3pm.
