An evening of fantastic music on the 'Main Street' of Harlowton, MT. Presenting the first round of the inaugural Summer Concert Series featuring: Jalan Crossland & Dodgy Mountain Men!
Jalan Crossland is a Wyoming treasure. He is widely acclaimed by audiences, critics, and his musical peers as being a premier acoustic guitarist, as well as banjo player, singer-songwriter, and engaging showman. “To pin any one label on Crossland’s body of work would be a crime. His characters and stories come alive to form an often dark, yet highly humorous interpretation of the American Experience” (Marcus Huff- Laramie Zine). His dedication to performing full-time as well as releasing 7 albums has won him multiple awards, features in many magazines, and tours throughout the U.S. “More than a great picker, Crossland’s performances feature graceful delivery and genuine character” (Planet Jackson Hole).
Dodgy Mountain Men sling a home-brewed Montana stompgrass that goes down smooth but packs a bite, mixing the rhythms of bluegrass, the soul of the blues and the energy of rock ‘n’ roll with a plethora of other musical traditions to create a unique electro-acoustic experience. The group’s genre-bending experimentation and passion for American roots traditions weave together to emphasize their lyrical storytelling, creating a musical frontier rife with empty mason jars, outlaws, gypsy women and cold Montana storms. Add three distinct frontmen, a pension for sonic exploration, and live performances that build to a fever pitch, and you’ve got a concoction that will make moonshiners proud and compel dancers to wear out the soles of their shoes.
There will be food and drink vendors to satisfy your cravings and thirst, and the small-town, fresh-summer-air set-up will undoubtedly leave everyone having a great time. Should you feel inclined to spend the night in Harlo and take part in a traditional rural concert experience, Chief Joseph Park offers ample tent camping.
