6th Annual Beer Olympics

The Beer Olympics combine the competitive nature of intramural sports, with enough beer to drown a small village. But, if you're going to partake in the most sacred of competitions, you have to do it the correct way.  

When you buy your ticket you must message me your T'shirt size otherwise you get a large.

Rules:  

*Teams must have two players per.  

*We have 24 team slots available as of now

*You will be given t'shirts but we encourage coustumes and will be giving away prizes for the best coustumes.  

*Every team competes in every event

*For scoring, every win gets a point.  Champions for each event get an additional bonus 3 points.

*Team names will be submitted on the day of the event.  The more creative the better.  Bonus points will be awarded to the team voted to have the best name.

*Teams are introduced. Coming out to a legendary song is not only awesome, but also encouraged.  So have your ideas to me before the event so I can get the song requests to the dj.

The Events:

CORN HOLE:

1. In doubles play, the first side of contestants alternate pitching corn bags until they have thrown all four corn bags, then the remaining contestant (pitching from the other cornhole platform) continue to alternate in the same manner until all four corn bags are delivered and the inning completed. Delivery in singles play is handled in the same manner (but from the same platform) with each of the two contestants alternating their pitching of corn bags until all four corn bags have been pitched completing the inning. 

2.The contestant who scored in the preceding inning shall pitch first in the next inning. If neither pitcher scores, the contestant who pitched second (last) in the preceding inning shall pitch first in the next inning.

3.The Cornhole / Corn Toss match shall be played until the first team of contestants reaches 21 points at the completion of an inning. The winning team does not need to win by two or more points.  

4.The game shall be played to 21 unless a team scores 11 or more points at the end of an inning before their opponents score any points. It this case the game is a skunk and the team that scores 7 or more points wins the match.

5.In cancellation scoring, corn bags in-the-hole and corn bags in-the-count pitched by opponents during an inning or half of an inning in doubles play cancel each other out. Only non cancelled corn bags are counted in the score for the inning.

6.A corn bag in-the-hole (or Hole-In) is a corn bag which is thrown through the hole in the cornhole platform or otherwise comes to rest inside the cornhole platform (knocked in by another player or an act of God). A corn bag in-the-hole has a value of three points.

7.A corn bag that is not in-the-hole but lands with any portion of the corn bag resting on the cornhole platform is in-the-count. A corn bag in-the-count has a value of one point. For a corn bag to be in-the-count, it must not touch the ground or any other portion of the court prior to coming to rest on the cornhole platform. If a corn bag touches the ground before coming to rest on the cornhole platform, it is a foul and must be removed from the cornhole platform prior to the continuation of play.   

FLIP CUP:

1:Fill up each cup about quarter way with beer.

2.Place one of these cups in front of every person participating.

3.Each team lines up on opposite sides of the table, on the long sides. Someone not involved in the game yells "Go!" At this point, the first player from each team chugs their beer.

4.Once finished, the player must put the cup on the table, hanging off the edge, and attempt to flip it over so it lands on its top, by using their finger to hit the bottom of the cup. Only once the first team member has flipped their cup,then,the next person in line can start drinking.

5.Continue down until one team has finished drinking and flipped over all of their cups. They are the winners, then start over.

BEER PONG:

General Gameplay

Beer Pong is generally played by teams of two in which each team takes turn throwing a ping pong ball into the other team’s cups. Once a ball lands in a cup, the cup is taken away and the opponent then drinks the contents of the cup. If both teammates hit cups, the balls are rolled back and they get to shoot again. The team that successfully hits all of the opponent’s cups wins the game. Since there are a vast amount of variation on the game, it is good to quickly go over things like racks and bouncing/swatting before the game begins.

Elbow / Wrists Rule

This is usually an unspoken rule at house parties (or at least until someone breaks it). When shooting, players must keep their elbows behind the edge of the table. Breaking this rule results in the shot not counting. If the shot is made, the infracting player may step back and re-shoot the ball. This tends to be the most argued-over rule in Beer Pong, due to the fact that it is sometimes difficult to determine if the elbow does indeed cross the plane of the table

Yes, Females have to abide by this rule as well.

Re-Racking

Once per game, each team can request the cups to be rearranged at the start of their turn. This is known as re-racking, racking, or reforming. Racking may take place when you have remaining cups in the amount of 4, 3, or 2. If you get balls back after making 2 in a row, it is still considered your turn and you may not get a rack

Bouncing / Swatting

If a ball hits the table and then goes into a cup (even by accident), the cup that the ball goes into is removed, as well as another cup of the defending player’s choice. We’ve heard some of the manlier men out there claim “Bouncing is for bitches” but we like this rule as it helps keep focus to the game, therefore speeding things up.

Fingering / Blowing

You may have heard the expression Guys Finger, Bitches Blow during a rule summary at the beginning of a game. Fingering is when the ball is spinning inside of a cup and the defending team pulls it out with his/her finger. Blowing is when the ball is spinning inside of a cup and it is blown out by the defending team. If not specifically called at the beginning of the game, neither fingering nor blowing count. This is due to the cheapness of the rule and the easiness of a player to blow out the ball, even after it has come into contact with the beer. If you don’t believe it just try putting a ball in one of the cups and blowing it out, it’s not very difficult (especially for those experienced sorority gals)

On Table Rollbacks

After shooting if the ball rolls back to the shooter without hitting the floor (you may also grab it mid-air), they can shoot it again behind the back. The shot counts as one cup if made.

Rebuttal

After the last cup is hit each player from the losing team has a chance to hit the remaining cups. Each player shoots until they miss, the order in which this is done does not matter. If there are racks left over they may be used now. Once both players miss and there are remaining cups, the game is over. If the players manage to hit all remaining cups the game goes into a 3 cup overtime.

Overtime

Three cups are placed back into a triangle shape and the would-have-been winners shoot first. There are no racks permitted on overtime, however the last cup may be pulled back / centered. 

CANOE RACES:

Each player will have an ice cube tray filled with beer.  Each contestent will then be givin a straw.  The object of the race is to drink the beer out of each cube. First one done wins
