This 1934 play by beloved American playwright Lillian Hellman tells a story that resounds even today. A malicious teenage bully starts a rumor about two women who run her all-girls boarding school, and it quickly blows out of proportion. In the end, the lies serve not only to destroy the lives of these two women, but also to upend an entire community.
