An American Journey
Sound & Spirit is performing an Americana-themed concert on Sunday, May 17th at 3:00 pm at Natick High School. “An American Journey” will delight every generation just like our 108 members who range in age from 8 to 80+. From music to thoughtful choreography and visual arts elements, the choir presents a show that will bring to life the joyful, tearful and triumphant stories of our country’s history as they sing their way across America. Featuring geographical numbers like “New York, New York” and “Good Morning Baltimore”; a rousing medley of soldier’s tunes; a story of a young girl’s hopes and dreams as she passes through Ellis Island; contemporary songs like Bruce Springsteen’s “My City of Ruins” and John Cougar Mellencamp’s “Little Pink Houses”; an epic guitar jam nod to John Denver; and a large choral rendition of the Battle Hymn of the Republic; “An American Journey” chronicles the historical struggle for freedom, equality, and liberty in the United States—a dream come true—while reminding us how much work remains to protect and extend that dream now and in the future.
