2015 Jefferson State FLIXX Fest
ABOUT THE FESTIVAL:
Nestled in the scenic and historic Scott Valley among the majesty of the Marble Mountains, and just a hop, skip and a jump from Ashland, Oregon (ranked as the country's number one place to live/work in MovieMaker Magazine 2015), the Jefferson State FliXX Festival (JSFF) proudly claims to be the premier film festival in the "mythical" 51st State of Jefferson, located on the border in far northern California. In true Jeffersonian spirit we have our own way of doing things. We are committed to showcasing all types films and screenplays, with special attention paid to stories that capture some of the Jefferson State's iconic values: rebellion, beauty, irreverence, landscape, vision and independence, in whatever form that takes. All programming will happen over a celebratory weekend of films and festivities from September 24th-27th, including music, workshops, and an actor-performed table read of the winning screenplay.
ABOUT THE FILMS: This year we are thrilled to feature nearly thirty films, documentaries and shorts. Many of the films are award-winning, coming from prestigious festivals such as Sundance, SXSW, Seattle and Santa Barbara. Many of the filmmakers will be in attendance and will include a Q&A period following the film. There are three shorts programs, each featuring 4 or more different shorts. Our opening night films will include Shorts Program #1, including the critically-acclaimed animated short THE WORLD OF TOMORROW from Oscar-nominated filmmaker Don Hertzfeld, and THE GREAT ALONE, a documentary about Iditarod Champion Lance Mackey. Lance Mackey will be joining us for the screening as well as a special Q&A following the film.
