TRAMPS LIKE US: Fundraiser Concert For Suicide Prevention / Plitnick Memorial Concert
Suicide effects over 40,000 people a year and leaves countless loved ones behind. Suicide is the 10th leading cause of death for Americans. In October 2013 we lost a father, a son, a brother and a friend, Jimmy “Plitty” Plitnick. This year, the Jimmy Plitnick Memorial Concert has teamed up with The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (the “AFSP”), to help raise awareness on suicide and bring together loved ones, not just of Jimmy’s, but of all who have been touched personally by suicide and the loss of a loved one.
Jimmy is one of too many that have left behind loved ones who struggle to make sense of this kind of devastating loss. Jimmy was loved by so many people and was such a kind and gentle soul. He touched the lives of countless people with his unique sense of humor and infectious laugh.
The loss of Jimmy will continue to be felt indefinitely by all who loved him - but the light has dimmed forever. The Plitnick Fund has been a huge help in supporting the family (specifically his two teenage boys), and a portion of the evening’s proceeds will be donated to the AFSP in Jimmy’s memory. The AFSP is the leader in the fight against suicide. They fund research, create educational programs, advocate for public policy and support survivors of suicide loss. AFSP has 75 local chapters with programs and events nationwide.
Whether you knew Jimmy personally or if you are someone whose life has been touched by suicide, please join us on Friday, November 27th, 7PM at Rory Dolan’s Restaurant, 890 McLean Avenue, Yonkers, NY for an evening of music with the #1 Bruce Springsteen tribute band in the world, Tramps Like Us.
Suggested donation of $35 per person includes admission & passed hors d’oeuvres / cash bar
