On March 5th, Kinetics Dance Company debuts "Jungle Book Tales," based on the books by Rudyard Kipling. Featuring an original adaptation by Artistic Director Lauren Snyder and a choreographic fusion of Modern and Traditional Indian Dance developed in collaboration with guest artist Jaya Mathur, "Jungle Book Tales" promises a delightful adventure with Mowgli, Baloo, Rikki Tikki Tavi, Shere Khan, and the other creatures of the jungle.
In addition to enjoying the wonderful production of "Jungle Book Tales," presented by KDT's Professional Company, students can participate in dance workshops!
Guest choreographer Jaya Mathur will lead the following pre-show workshops. Please note that the workshops are geared toward different age groups and be sure to register accordingly:
10:45-11:15am Intro to Traditional Indian Dance: Animals of the Jungle (ages 3-7)
12:30-1:15pm Intro to Traditional Indian Dance and Bollywood Dance (ages 8-13).
SPACE IS LIMITED! Registration is required! Workshops are $5.
Tickets for shows and workshops are on sale now and may be purchased through Ticket River or at the Kinetics front desk in person or by phone at 410-480-1686.
In addition to its innovative concert work, Kinetics Dance Company is dedicated to the presentation of an annual Family Concert Series presentation each season in the early spring. Designed to appeal to children as well as adults, Family Concert Series productions can be adapted from cultural folktales, children's literature, poetry or original stories. They emphasize cultural, artistic, and educational elements and combine sophisticated choreography with content that is fun and accessible for young audiences. Add imaginative props, elaborate costumes, and a cast of professional dancers, and the result is a stimulating artistic experience for the whole family.
Kinetics Dance Company is a professional modern dance company in residence at Kinetics Dance Theatre in Ellicott City, Maryland. A non-profit organization founded in 1984, Kinetics Dance Theatre is devoted to the development of contemporary dance as a vital art form within the community through performance, education, and outreach.
