Evenings on the Town: Richard Hampton’s “Tribute to Kenny Rogers”
REMARKABLE KENNY ROGERS TRIBUTE ARTIST TO PERFORM IN APPLE VALLEY’S EVENINGS ON THE TOWN CONCERT SERIES
Fans of country singer Kenny Rogers won’t believe their eyes and ears when the legend’s doppelganger Richard Hampton takes the stage in “A Tribute to Kenny Rogers” at 6 p.m., July 30 in Apple Valley’s Evenings on the Town concert series. The event will be held at the Apple Valley Golf Course, 15200 Rancherias Road.
Kathie Martin, marketing and public affairs officer for the Town of Apple Valley, said previous concerts have sold out quickly, so those interested in attending should grab their tickets fast.
According to Hampton, who lives in Las Vegas, people have mistaken him for Rogers most of his adult life. He said the uncanny resemblance made it easy for him to embark on his career as a celebrity impersonator.
He started out doing public appearances at parties and corporate events and eventually segued into doing live concerts.
“At times, people have refused to believe that I’m not Kenny Rogers,” said Hampton. “I’ve actually been mobbed by fans.”
Over the years, Hampton has performed at casinos, dinner theaters and a variety of corporate events across the nation. He also has appeared on television shows, such as an episode of “CMT Most Shocking – The Life of a Celebrity Impersonator.”
His tribute show features Rogers’ greatest hits, including “Lucille,” “The Gambler,” “She Believes in Me,” “Lady,” “Through the Years,” and “Coward of the County,” to name a few.
Along with the music, Hampton shares stories about Rogers’ career that spans over 50 years.
Tickets to Richard Hampton’s “Tribute to Kenny Rogers” are $60 per person and includes a selection of gourmet wood fired pizza, appetizers and desserts.
