The Veteran's Gala will be held on Saturday November 12, 2016 to raise funds and awareness for the Veteran's Outreach Center. The Veteran's Outreach Center assists Veteran's and their families in need in seven upstate NY counties. The Veteran's Outreach Center assists with housing homeless or at risk Veteran's through the SSVF grant. The Center also provides case management services, a food pantry and numerous other services.
Doors will open at 6PM with dinner following at 6:30PM. A cash bar will be available.
The Veteran's Gala will feature Guest Speaker Eric McElvenny. Eric deployed three times as a Marine, and on his final tour in Afghanistan, was wounded after stepping on an IED. Eric suffered the amputation of his right leg below the knee, a life-changing opportunity that began his next journey. Faced with a physical challenge and an uncertain future, Eric made a promise to himself to run an Ironman Triathlon. On his journey from the hospital bed in southern California to the finish line in Kona Hawaii, he realized that the challenge and adversity he was up against and the techniques he used to reach the finish line could be used against the challenges we all entertain.
