The O'ahu Choral Society Presents Writings Etched In My Soul
The season opens with a concert in honor of our veterans and all those who have lost their lives to war. We particularly remember victims and veterans of World War II as we prepare to mark the 75th anniversary this December of the a ack on Pearl Harbor. Tickets are free to active-duty military personnel and veterans.
In this concert, the OCS Symphonic Chorus and Chamber Choir, joined by guest artists Thomas Yee (piano) and John Renke (organ) present choral music from the 20th century inspired by timeless writings, including stirring works by Srul Irving Glick and Randall Thompson. The heart of this concert features the Hawai‘i premiere of Donald McCullough’s Holocaust Cantata for chorus, cello, and piano—a musical tribute and emotional journey through songs and prose wri en by prisoners in the camps.
