Terps vs USA Warriors
The University of Maryland's Division III Club Ice Hockey team will be playing a charity game vs. the USA Warriors on Sunday, Feb. 19, at 1:30 p.m. The game will take place at Wells Ice Rink in College Park, MD. All proceeds will be benefiting America's Vet Dogs which is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization. It is a subsidiary of the "Wounded Warrior Project.”
According to VetDogs.org, "America’s VetDogs uses guide dogs, service dogs, and innovative technology to help disabled veterans and active duty personnel live again with dignity and self-reliance. We serve veterans who are blind or visually impaired; have lost limbs or suffered traumatic brain injuries; or who suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder."
Maryland’s opponent, the USA Warriors Hockey Club, is comprised of wounded veterans from all branches of the military. The program provides a therapeutic experience for those suffering from physical and/or mental injuries.
The event will feature a silent auction, raffles, food, opportunities to get on the ice between periods, and of course a game between the USA Warriors and the D-III Terps Ice Hockey team. Tickets will be $7 and can be purchased at the door or online. If you cannot make it to the game and want to help, donations can be made at www.Vetdogs.org.
Terps Ice-Hockey's goal is to raise enough money to cover the charity's operating costs for a full year.
