CHMA BLUE&GOLD WHITE PARTY
The Carver High Museum & Archives of West Georgia, Inc. (CHMA) is a certified 501 (c) (3) non profit organization formed in 2005 by Carver High alumni with a mission to preserve the history and legacy of George Washington Carver High School and the other historic black schools of Carroll County Georgia.
Carver High opened in the fall of 1954 as a consolidated county located in Carrollton, GA that served Carroll County's African American students from grade 8 through 12. It closed the spring of 1969 when all county schools were mandated to be integrated.
?CHMA sponsors two annual fundraiser (a Ball and a Golf Tournament). Proceeds go to cover CHMA's annual expenses and to support projects that fulfill its mission The "Blue & Gold" in these fundraisers' names pays homage to the school's colors: royal blue and gold. Carver's mascot, the Yellow Jacket, is incorporated into CHMA's logos.
Our last Ball was held in 2011 and had the theme: "A Black & White Affair" all Guests wore black white formal attire. This year's BLUE&GOLD WHITE PARTY is our twist on the ubiquitous "White Party" theme - where guests' attire and venue decorations are in all white. For our Blue&Gold White Party, guests are asked to wear Dressy Summer Whites With Blue and/or Gold Accessories.
An additional attaction for the event is its historic venue - the beautiful, $1million newly renovated The Depot on Bradley Street which was built around 1875. Decorations and food will be executed around an the old school theme of "Juke Joint Saturday Night."
