The Honolulu Symphony Chorus will present an outstanding concert of works by American composers, including Samuel Barber, Aaron Copland, and Randall Thompson. Featured in this concert will be Morten Lauridsen’s first choral cycle from 1980, Mid-Winter Songs, which marries poetry to music. Lauridsen leaves the listener pondering, as he breathes musical expression and inspiration into Robert Graves’ poetry. Hawaiian music, folk, gospel, and Eric Whitacre’s Cloudburst will complete this American tapestry.
Performers include acclaimed Honolulu pianist Thomas Yee, with the Honolulu Symphony Chorus and HPU's International Chorale, all under the direction of Esther S. Yoo.
