2nd Annual "Holiday On The Harbor"
Local residents are gearing up for the 2nd annual "Holiday on the Harbor" event, a toy drive/fundraiser that will benefit 8 or more local families that are in need this Holiday season. Heather Thorne along with Laurie Wollaston organizers of the event, say “The goal is to provide a Christmas to remember to select families that have fallen victim to misfortune.”
Last year the ladies raised with help of friends, family and total strangers over 4k and were able to help 22 children, 11 families and had funds to donate to a local teen shelter. The women know the bar was set high last year but are looking to raise it by moving it to a larger venue.
This year Local Acoustic Group "Bonfire" is back to preform, raffle, drink specials, appetizers and door prizes will be at a new location. The owners of the Black Raspberry Pub are excited to host this event as well. All proceeds from ticket sales and raffle will go toward purchasing gifts/clothes as well as a gift card to a local grocery store so each family can enjoy a warm Holiday dinner.
A website www.holidayharbor.weebly.com has been created and will be updated as families are selected to be helped this holiday season.
The events organizers are asking that each person attending to please bring an unwrapped toy for either a boy or a girl.
