Larry Taylor and the Soul Blues Healers will be playing Saturday June 2, 2018, from 8 to 10:30 p.m. at Blues in the Sanctuary, a fundraiser for the ministry of St. Martin’s Episcopal Church, 5700 W. Midway Blvd., Chicago IL 60644. This legendary blues singer and drummer is the oldest son of the master guitarist Eddie “Playboy” Taylor—VeeJay recording artist, Jimmy Reed’s music partner, who powered Chicago blues with the boogie and “lump.”
Today Larry Taylor is a legend in his own right. He faithfully carries his Mississippi-born father’s talent and his mother Vera Taylor’s singing traditions. With his band, the Soul Blues Healers, he brings the rhythm and spirits of his West Side Chicago neighborhood–from Howlin’ Wolf to James Brown. His music brings people together. www.larrytaylorchicagoblues.com
Larry’s band will play two exciting sets, and the church will be set up like a coffee house or night spot with tables. Cash bar and food are for sale. An art auction will add to the fun and fundraising. Bonni McKeown will be barrelhousing on the church’s grand piano for the intermission.
