Blues On The Range 2024 Lineup
The Wicked Lo-Down https://www.wickedld.com/
“The Wicked Lo-Down, a musical consortium set to redefine the very fabric of their genre.” ~ Rock & Blues International
“Nick David has a blues and rock ‘n’ roll sound that’s deep and soulful. His singing, writing, and harp playing are old school, yet fresh all at once. The Wicked Lo-Down is a fantastic group behind Nick. Paul Size on guitar is legendary in Texas Blues. Together they bring an exciting new album to the genre and Gulf Coast Records.” ~ Mike Zito
“The Wicked Lo-Down blends raw Texas blues and hard hitting Northeast RnB into their own, original, house rockin’ sound”
~ Metronome Magazine
The Wicked Lo-Down is composed of Nick David - Vocals/Harmonica; Paul Size – Guitar; Jeffrey Berg – Guitar/ Background Vocals; Brad Hallen – Bass; and Nick Toscano – Drums. Out of Line was produced by The Wicked Lo-Down and recorded, mixed and mastered by Jeffrey Berg at Walking Stick Studios, Auburn Mass.
Formed in 2020 just before the Covid lockdown by guitar giant Paul Size (The Red Devils, Mick Jagger, Sugar Ray & the Bluetones) and powerhouse blues belter Nick David (Mr. Nick & the Dirty Tricks, Queen City Kings), The Wicked Lo-Down blends raw Texas blues and hard hitting Northeast R&B into their own completely original house rockin' sound. Their debut album, We Hot, received critical acclaim from some of the biggest names in the blues world and beyond. Consisting of ten well crafted, rock solid barn burners, We Hot established The Wicked Lo-Down as a true force to be reckoned- with and left no doubt that from Austin to Boston is how they roll.
Out of Line, the second record from The Wicked Lo-Down, includes 11 sure-fire originals and two rock solid, unexpected covers: Hound Dog Taylor’s “Just Can’t Make It;” and a funky, bluesified take on “Toxic,” which was originally done by pop princess Britney Spears and the band proceeds to turn completely inside-out. “With ‘Toxic,’ The Wicked Lo-Down have re-crafted this interesting piece of bubble gum pop into a sinister, fierce, rockin’ Texas shuffle with help from the great Monster Mike Welch on guitar,” declares Nick David.
As with their previous release, the focal point of Out of Line is on the songs. Highlighting the songwriting of Berg, David and Size, the band once again solidifies its place by continuing to carve out a lane all its own, making the new disc a must-listen for hard core fans of bands like The Red Devils and the original Fabulous Thunderbirds.

One Dime Band https://onedimeband.com/
One Dime Band is a dynamic and talented acoustic duo who have crafted their unique sound and songwriting approach by blending influential styles of Blues, R&B and Soul. They have played in and around the Boston/New England area as a duo and as a 4-piece electric band for many years.
Paul Gallucci and John Brauchler’s love of American Roots music started in New York State where they first met in High School, teaching each other Chuck Berry and Buddy Holly songs at the age of fifteen. The next year they formed their first band and began to incorporate Blues numbers into their repertoire.
Musical fate led them to Boston, MA in 1986. Their goal was to write and perform music professionally, so they formed a Blues band called The Roadhouse Sheiks, playing live extensively (even hosting a Blues jam at Jonathan Swift’s in Brighton, MA) into the early nineties. The two eventually went on to pursue separate musical endeavors, ultimately reuniting as a duo in early 2000, focusing on acoustic Blues.
In June of 2017, they released their debut album of twelve original songs, Gonna Take Sweet Time, on their own label, Toneblanket Records.
Hoodoo & Holy Water, their follow up album, was recorded at Woolly Mammoth Sound in Waltham, MA. Engineered and co-produced by Rob Ignazio, released in February of 2020, it received notable recognition, including Blues Music Fan Radio’s Top 20 albums of the year and Blues Music and Metronome Magazine’s Top 20 lists of 2020.
Winners of the 2022 Boston Blues Society Blues Challenge solo/duo category &
the 2023 Granite State Blues Society Challenge, the Duo returned to Memphis and made it to the Semi-Finals at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis in January 2024.
On February 9, 2024 they released their 3rd album, “Side Hustle” which has spent weeks sailing the Roots & Blues Charts!
John Brauchler: electric & acoustic guitars, resonator, and banjo
Paul Gallucci: vocals, harmonica, and guitar
The Cheryl Arena Band https://cherylarena.com/
“Most Outstanding Harmonica Player”
Cheryl sizzles with excitement as she mesmerizes audiences with her sultry voice and powerhouse energy. She is a triple threat- a great songwriter, vocalist and blows harp like there’s no tomorrow…
Hailing from Boston, Massachusetts, Cheryl Arena began playing harmonica and immersing herself into the Blues in 1987. Boston was an inspiring place to be as she was surrounded by so many talented harmonica and horn players. Her earliest childhood memories relating to music were listening and singing along with her mother’s Louis Armstrong and Billie Holiday records. Her true passion though was in learning to play an instrument so at age 8 her grandmother set her up with accordion lessons..not exactly what she had in mind, but it was a start and lead to playing other instruments like guitar and bass guitar, and eventually finding the one instrument that truly resonated with her…the harmonica.
Since then Cheryl has been touring regionally, nationally & abroad. In her 30+ year career she has shared the stage with many well known Blues artists such as
Jr. Wells, RL Burnside, Honey Boy Edwards, Charlie Musselwhite, James Cotten, Duke Robillard, Louisiana Red, Lazy Lester, Candye Kane, Johnny Clyde Copeland, Smokin Joe Kubek & Bnois King, Sonny Rhodes, Pinetop Perkins, Luther “Guitar Jr.” Johnson, Johnny Rawls, Big Jack Johnson, Kenny Neal, Bob Margolin, Ronnie Earl, Buddy Miles, Janiva Magness, Ann Rabson, Jr. Watson, Big Bill Morganfield, Anson Funderburgh and Sam Myers and more… including special guest for this performance, Toni Lynn Washington
Toni Lynn Washington WGBH - TONI LYNN -still-on-top
“Toni Lynn Washington has been at the forefront of Boston’s music scene for decades. Aptly named Boston’s Queen of Soul and Blues, her accolades are too many to name—seven Blues Music Award nominations, a Boston Blues Festival Lifetime Achievement Award and a Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition from Sen. Ed Markey, to name a few.
She’s graced the stage from a young age, singing with her school and church choirs, sneaking into music clubs to stun audiences across the city, and eventually expanding her career across the nation.” - WGBH.org https://www.wgbh.org/music/2023-12-07/bostons-queen-of-soul-and-blues-toni-lynn-washington-isstill-on-top
