"I have never put my hope in any other but in Thee, God of Israel, who canst show both wrath and graciousness, and who absolves all the sins of man in suffering, Lord God, Creator of Heaven and Earth, Regard our humility."

A 40-part Renaissance motet by Thomas Tallis, Spem in alium was composed in c. 1570 for eight choirs of five voices each, and is considered by some to be the single greatest piece of English Renaissance music. And with it's simply gorgeous choral writing and incredible musical texture, The King's Counterpoint count not be more excited to partner with Dr. Dustin Ousley and the Charleston Southern University Concert Singers** to bring this landmark work of vocal music to Charleston audiences this Autumn!

With works by Palestrina, Victoria, Padilla and more - and everything from multi-choir works to small ensemble motets - this truly is a concert that lovers of choral music really shouldn't miss!

All proceeds from this event will benefit both the Charleston Southern University Concert Singers and The King's Counterpoint "Road to Canterbury" Fund, underwriting KCP's 2021 Residency at Canterbury Cathedral

** Dr. Ousley conducts the Concert Singers, a select group of auditioned students who have performed regularly with the Charleston Symphony Orchestra - Benjamin Britten's Saint Nicholas, Mozart's Requiem, Beethoven's 9th Symphony, Faure's Requiem and Hubert Parry's Blest Pair of Sirens. They will combine this Fall to present Felix Mendelssohn's Die Erste Walpurgisnacht. This choir also embarks on a European Tour every two years, and has perfomed in various countries including Germany, Switzerland, Bulgaria, Austria, Italy, Spain, England, Scotland, and the Czech Republic. The group will tour England, Scotland and Ireland this coming summer.
