The Cracked Nut
Join us for a holiday classic with a contemporary twist!
Kinetics Dance Theatre’s Student and Apprentice Dance Companies present The Cracked Nut on Saturday and Sunday, December 9th and 10th
at 7pm. The Cracked Nut uses ballet, modern and contemporary dance styles
to tell the classic story of Clara and her journey to the magical Land of the
Sweets, only with a few surprises as this is not your traditional Nutcracker! This show is especially great for families
with young children, both boys and girls.
The show will run approximately an hour in length.
In The Cracked Nut,
Clara attends a dance class and holiday party with all of her friends at her
studio. Choreographer Alex J. Krebs takes
a unique approach to the traditional doll dances by presenting Barbie dolls,
rusty dolls, and rag dolls. After the
party, Clara waits for her parents to pick her up and falls asleep beneath the
Christmas tree. Her dreams transport her
through the beautiful snowfall to the classic Land of the Sweets. Among the exciting adventures ahead of Clara
in the Land of the Sweets, a giant Chinese dragon dances for her. She is also greeted by Mother Ginger’s unruly
teenagers, fiery Spanish dancers, and Sugar Plum Fairies. Join us in an evening filled with adventure,
mystery, and delight in this magical new world.
The role of Clara will be performed by Gwyn Watson, a member of the Junior
Company.
