Foot steps.

I am the foot steps of THE people’s voices. You see everyday I wake up and I’m presented with stories of trauma. The trauma that most could never endure not along listen to. I hear the voices of the PEOPLE cry out to me in excruciating pain, anger and hopelessness. Some, are sitting in pain and confusion. Some, are sad and angry. Some, are unsure but eager. There’s SOME of every emotion that I’m presented with as I sit and LISTEN to the VOICES of the PEOPLE.

When I’m done listening or reading the pain, trauma and experiences of these individuals, I have to sit in silence. I have to Pray, meditate and be at one with my spirituality. These voices are CRIES. These voices tell me why they chose me to cry to. They say “I went to your website, Janice and I read your story and I looked at your picture and you can help me”. This is HEAVY. Imagine, carrying a weight that heavy. Yet, there’s no guarantee that I can even pick that weight up without the right preparations. For me, the preparations I need to carry this weight is my community. That is where I turn to the PEOPLE of ARIZONA.

I have heard several things about MYSELF from others in how they see me. They have all been great things and I appreciate that but I do know with great things comes some bad. Not everyone wants to see you win. Not everyone wants to support even the greatness in you. There will be setbacks. Yet, my community always prepares me for setbacks and keeps me ready for those that want to see me sit idle.

I’ve been called several things. A powerhouse. A networker. A connector. A Boss (my least favorite). A champion. A go getter. A servant leader. The princess of Arizona (love this one). A Angel. I’ve been told I’m God sent. I’ve never been called a quitter.

I endured a bump in the road recently, a spirit got in my way. Yet, I will still prevail. Why? Because of the Voices I hear from the PEOPLE. I have COMMUNITY. I have something special in me that people admire and need during their most traumatic time. I am FOOTSTEPS for the people. I will not sit idle.

 

So, in this fundraiser I ask that the community get involved. Help by making a donation and spreading awareness so these cry outs can be handled in a way that provides each woman a sense of safety, advocacy, reliability, support and togetherness.
