Footloose: The Musical

One of the most explosive movie musicals bursts onto the live stage at the new Performing Arts Center at Pioneer Valley High School on April 19, 20, 26, 27, 28 at 7pm.   When Ren McCormack and his mother move from Chicago to a small farming town they are not prepared for the rigorous local edits, including a ban on dancing instituted by the local preacher who is determined to exercise the control over the town’s youth that he cannot command in his own home.  The heartfelt story that emerges is of a father longing for the son he lost and of a young man aching for the father who walked out on him.  With its Oscar and Tony nominated score, FOOTLOOSE celebrates the wisdom of listening to young people, guiding them with a warm heart and open mind.

The PVHS production features this year’s Teen Star winner, Daniel Geiger, in the lead role along with fellow seniors Edrick Rodriquez, Cleopatra Garcia, Jovany Medina, Alina Davila and Alexis Morse. Jenna Santana as Ariel and Nathan Padilla as Willard round out the cast of 40 high school students.
