Job hiring procedure

Ancient China used competitive examinations to choose its government officials. It makes so much more sense. Not completely more fair, because your educational background matters, but much more fair than putting so much stress on "name schools."  I once had one of our accounts specifically request an analyst who was not "certified." He said the certified techies (usually younger) had mostly book learning, and he was wanting the experience of domyhomework4me analyst who had spent years in the trenches rather than sitting in the branch office with his nose in a manual.
