Grab your friends and challenge yourself to move for mental health! Choose between the 2.5k, 5k or 10k routes on the Dickinson County Trails for walking or running adventure that will leave you feeling fabulous as you cross the finish line with your friends or family. The Move for Mental Health will take place on Saturday, August 23 (starting location to be announced soon). The event proceeds will go to curriculum and speakers focused on mental health in the Dickinson County school systems.
This event is about the journey, not the destination. We want you to move in a way that feels good, for both your body and your mind. We want you to enjoy a lakes morning, admire the scenery along the trails and connect with your teammates. We don't care if you go fast - we care that you be kind to yourself and enjoy the support of those around you. If you are part of a team, we encourage you to come up with a team name or dress up in a fun way - it's not required, but encouraged. Start times vary by race length and the fee includes an event T-shirt for each participant as noted, access to Love Stops (see below) and a walk medal upon completion. MUST REGISTER BY AUGUST 4 TO GUARANTEE GETTING A SHIRT!
The Iowa Great Lakes Rotary and the Dickinson County Behavioral Health Coalition (and our sponsors) will provide Love Stops along the way with snacks, hydration and encouragement, before you make it back to the finish line for some photos and fun. Local behavioral health providers will also have booths sharing more about resources that are available in our area. We hope you plan to attend this third annual event to move for mental health - register your team today!
