Luminosity Orchestra and North Tacoma Music & Arts Academy are proud to announce our first Puget Sound Young Composers Showcase. Composers selected will have their piece premiered and recorded by a professional orchestra and be given feedback by a panel of veteran composers including 2-time Emmy Award winning composer Hummie Mann. The concert is on Saturday, February 24th and is in the theme of "rain". As Luminosity is an orchestra that emphasizes a more multi-sensory concert experience, there will be visual imagery and lighting changes accompanying the music.
We will be featuring Puget Sound composers, age 30 or under who have written an approximately 6 to 10 minute piece, in the theme of Rain.
There are cash prizes available to composers whose work is featured in the concert: 1st Place ($1000), 2nd Place ($500), 3rd Place ($250) and Audience Favorite ($250). Each piece will be evaluated based on emotional impact, orchestration, rehears ability, playability, cohesion and thematic material. All composers who work is featured in the concert will also receive a recording of the performance.
This will be a fun, moving concert and a great way to support the local music and artists in the Puget Sound!
