Have you always wanted to try your hand at realistic pencil drawing but aren’t sure where to start or are intimidated by just the idea? This class is for you! In this class you will learn a fool proof method for realistic drawing and create a beautiful keepsake in the process. This virtual class will cover all you need to know to create any drawing with realistic proportions, shading, and texture in pencil. During the class you will learn image transfer technique, how to draw with correct proportions, how to use contour lines, and how to find value, shading and texture in pencil. This class is for artists of all levels but will best suit adults and high school students.
Materials:
Bare Minimum: Required materials you will need to do this project
Ruler
Pencils
Good Eraser
Paper
Printed, black and white high quality image of your subject (a pet, animal, etc). I recommend printing as large as possible (8x10 is great) and printing a few copies.
Reference image should clearly show the pet’s face and general features. You may want to have several options available, and the instructor will help you choose the best reference photo.
Paper Towel
Colored Pencil
Next Level: Recommended materials that will enhance your work, but are not critical
Drawing Pencils in a range of values from 6H through 6B. We will go over the difference in these drawing pencils in class. A 2H, HB, 2B, 4B and 6B pencil would be ideal but whatever you have will work!
Eraser Pen - this is just a skinny eraser, the eraser from a mechanical pencil also works well
