Get ready for another round of Tales from the Altamaha seen through Sybil's 'Judge-colored glasses.'
We are excited to invite you to experience the captivating "Tales from the Altamaha" at the Blue Marquee Theater in Lyons. This unique folk-life play brings to life the writings of Colonel T. Ross Sharpe, a local attorney whose essays, originally published in The Lyons Progress in the 1950s and 60s, reflect the rich culture and colorful personalities of the Altamaha River region.
The play’s origin dates back to 2003, when Colonel Sharpe’s daughter, Luray Reid, presented his writings to the Lyons Better Hometown Program. Under the direction of Joy Lewis, the first production, “Life on the River,” debuted in 2005, receiving an overwhelmingly positive response with standing-room-only crowds. Since then, Tales from the Altamaha has become a cherished annual tradition in Lyons, showcasing new stories and talents each year.
Join us this April for a fresh set of captivating stories that continue to celebrate our community’s heritage, featuring local talent and the beloved “The River Rat Review Band.”
