Youth Fly Fishing Camp - Magic City Fly Fishers Chapter of Trout Unlimited
Magic City Fly Fishers Chapter of Trout Unlimited volunteers will lead a fly fishing day camp for youth ages 10 -13. Class will be held at the Region 5 Headquarters, Montana Department of Fish Wildlife, and Parks, 2300 Lake Elmo Drive, Billings, MT. Over the course of the week, students will learn to fly fish and become comfortable with the major aspects of the sport, including casting, fly fishing equipment, stream reading, entomology, fly tying, knots, safety, and stream/lake etiquette. The culmination of the class will include a day long field trip to test their skills and flies tied during class.
Cost: $290
Class hours: June 5-6-7-8 - 9:00 am to 3:00 pm June 9 - 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
What to bring to class:
5 or 6 weight fly rod and reel with floating line and two 7.5 foot 3x or 4x leaders (Rod/reel is available to check out if student does not have equipment)
Sack lunch, water bottle, sunscreen, and insect repellent.
Jacket/raincoat: We may be outdoors rain or shine!
Hat or cap and sunglasses. (Dollar Tree sunglasses are even fine!- Student may not cast a fly rod without eye protection and hat or cap)
Purchaser will be contacted by email after purchase to complete camper registration information.
Necessary parental consent and other forms can be completed at the venue on first day of class.
Camp may be cancelled and refunds made if minimum registration of 12 campers is not reached by May 25, 2023
