Genesis II Reunion Weekend
Dear Genesis II Family Member,
I am soooooooo excited about the enthusiasm y’all have exhibited about OUR reunion. I want to ask my classmates/family for help! Many classmates have contacted others, and myself because they have not received the first letter concerning the reunion. The help I am eliciting is that everyone makes a commitment to contact at least 5 of our classmates to pass along the reunion information and encourage attendance. How can you help…? Tell them about the GENESIS II Facebook page, share your letter, hit them on Twitter-#Genesis 2 Reunion-Need to be there# and pass it along like it is one of those “Million Dollar” chain letters…In other words, let’s get the WORD OUT!
Due to the times, the Alumni office is only able to mail out TWO letters. This being our second letter, this is going to contain all the information about our SILVER ANNEVERSARY Reunion. (Times, Dates, Places, Fundraising)
By now, you should have received a newsletter from the Alumni Office, which includes a tentative reunion schedule, hotel information, and other pertinent information regarding the reunion. If you have not received this information, I have included it again in this letter as well as a registration form that everyone needs to fill out when sending in money.
To date we have more than 100 classmates that have shown interest in participating in Genesis II Reunion Weekend, but less than 15 of us have donated. Since we are one of the more successful classes in Hampton’s history, we have been brought to task to raise $50,000. Presently, we have only 10% of that raised. Let’s keep our “Home by the Sea”, swimming in success by helping keeping the doors open. I know you look at the amount and say, “my $25 is not going to make a difference, so I won’ t donate at all”.
I am not going to sit here and tell you that it will feed 10 James Hall freshmen, but whatever you can afford helps. You don’t even have to pay it all at once. You can pledge a large amount and make payments like your student loans. (Knowing us, maybe I shouldn’t have used student loans as an example) Here is what you need to do to donate:
www.donateto.hamptonu.edu and don’t forget to put “Class of 1989” in the HU class section. This will ensure that our class get’s credit.
At the present time, we have sold out of rooms at the Springhill Suites (Genesis II Headquarters). We now have another block of rooms at the Courtyard Hampton, 1917 Coliseum Dr., call reservations at 1-800-321-22111-800-321-22111-800-321-22111-800-321-2211 and request the HU Class of 1989 Overflow Room Block May 2014 at a rate of $149 per night. (King Bed with sofa sleeper) The cutoff to book rooms is April 9.

“I’ve learned that: goodbyes will always hurt, pictures can never replace being there, memories forget the hard times…” unknown. These are the times that we need each other, there will be no better time for us to take a break from our busy lives to enjoy each other.” Those were sentiments I felt 5 years ago and now. How often will we get a chance to see so many of our classmates at one time? Let’s be honest, some of us have more years behind us than we do in front. We need to cherish the moments we have, reminisce on pass times, and hang out as if we never left Hampton. Let the reunion be your opportunity to relax your mind and let your conscience be free!
We are going to need volunteers to work the registration desk and also to help with certain events. I was told at Homecoming by my dearest classmates, that they wanted to be involved with the reunion…Now is the time! Please check FB for updates each Thursday from now till reunion time.
If you have any questions or need to find updates regarding our reunion, here are a couple of places you can find the information. You can go to www.facebook.com and go to the Genesis II discussion page. The information can also be found at www.ticketriver.com Genesis II Reunion Weekend. As Drake says, “It’s hard to do reunion alone, Just hold on, and COME BACK HOME’!
Hampton Hugs!
