Noye's Fludde
Benjamin Britten's beloved children's opera, Noye's Fludde (Noah's Flood), returns to the Northern Lights Music Festival. First performed at NLMF in 2008, this new production will have four performances at two different locations.
Based on a 15th century mystery play, this chamber opera was intended to be performed primarily by amateurs. Britten also requested that the opera be performed in a church or hall, rather than a theater.
The gigantic ark, designed by Philip Graneto, will be filled with area children dressed as pairs of animals. Directed by Lourin Plant, who sings the title role of Noye, the opera features orchestra, organ, a trumpet quartet, handbell choirs, recorder choirs, percussive sound effects and the Voice of God, performed by Don Barstad.
Four Performances: Saturday, July 12, 2:00 PM & 4:00 PM, Holy Rosary Church, Aurora, MN; Saturday, July 19, 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM, Our Savior Lutheran Church, Hibbing, MN
Tickets: Adults $10 / Students under 18 $5
