A Need for Speed – Talladerby Nights Starts Girlz 2014 Roller Derby Season!
Fans of flat track roller derby…start your engines. The Gallatin Roller Girlz and Guyz are lacing up their skates and hitting the track for the start of their 2014 home bout season!
Talladerby Nights – a Nascar themed roller derby bout – kicks the Girlz 3rd summer season off on Saturday, May 24th at the Haynes Pavilion. An intraleague bout, the GRG Speed Demons will shake, bake, rattle and roll against the GRG Hot Wheels for ‘pole position’ and ‘hometown hero’ bragging rights.
This family friendly event features food vendors and a no-host bar, half-time entertainment, games and prizes! Music by DJ Bones. Aged 18+ costumed attendees are given priority for suicide seating – think Ricky Bobby, Dale Earnhardt, Danica Patrick.
The Gallatin Roller Girlz, a 501(c)3 federal non-profit, have been training hard and traveling the region bouting leagues from Montana and surrounding states while the Haynes has been under ice. This January GRG achieved WFTDA (Women’s Flat Track Derby Association) apprenticeship designation and are currently working to achieve full WFTDA membership – allowing for ranking at the national and international level.
Tickets for Talladerby Nights are $8 in advance and $10 at the door – KIDS 12 and under enter for FREE! Doors are at 7pm, Bout starts at 8pm. After party to follow. Pre-purchase tickets are highly recommended - Girlz bouts are notorious for selling out. A portion of the proceeds from this event will benefit the Bozeman Firefighters L613 Benevolent Fund.
