This course is run by the Friends of the Avalanche Center and will be taught by Cooke City local guides, Ben Zavora and Allen Steckmest.
This 4-hour course will take place in the field. Everyone needs their own snowmobile plus rescue gear (avalanche transciever, shoveland probe). Topics covered include:
- The current avalanche conditions and danger rating.
- Identifying avalanche terrain.
- Avalanche transciever practice.
- A "real-life" rescue drill.
This course is limited to 16 people.
When: December 27, 8a-1200p
Where: Meet at the Visitor's Center in Cooke City.
Cost: $40 donation to the Friends of the Avalanche Center
