North Star Academy HS - GYPSY

Gypsy is the 1959 musical loosely based on the 1957 memoirs of Gypsy Rose Lee, the famous striptease artist. The musical focuses on her mother, Rose, whose name has become synonymous with "the ultimate show business mother." It follows the dreams and efforts of Rose to raise two daughters to perform onstage and casts an affectionate eye on the hardships of show business life.

GYPSY has been regarded as one the greatest American musicals ever produced. The original 1960 production and its revivials have been nominated for multiple Tony Awards, including 2008 wins for Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Musical, Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Musical and Best Performance by a Featured Actor in a Musical.
