This course is run by the Friends of the Avalanche Center and will be taught by Cooke City local guide Ben Zavora.
This 4-hour course will take place in the field. Everyone needs their own snowmobile plus rescue gear (avalanche transceiver, shovel, and probe). Topics covered include:
The current avalanche conditions and danger rating.
Identifying avalanche terrain.
Avalanche transceiver practice.
A "real-life" rescue drill.
This course is limited to 16 people.
When: January 30th, 830a-1200p
Where: Meet at the Visitor's Center in Cooke City.
Cost: $40 donation to the Friends of the Avalanche Center
