The Nutcracker
A HOLIDAY TRADITION ~ THE NUTCRACKER BALLET
The ballet Nutcracker has become a Christmas tradition with its beautiful Tchaikovsky music, the mysterious, magical story line and visions of tutued dancers floating across the stage. On Saturday, December 8th at 6:00 pm at the Mosinee High School – Creske Center, Allegro Regional Dance Theater and the Allegro Ballet School will present the Nutcracker Ballet. The mystical God-father Drosselmeyer starts the magic that allows sweet Clara to bravely save her life-sized Nutcracker from the Rat King. Drosselmeyer then turns her beloved Nutcracker into a real Prince. Clara’s Prince guides her, in his beautiful sleigh, through the snow to the Land of the Sweets where she is entranced by all the Delights.
You will see the growing Christmas tree, the Battle of the Mice and Soldiers, the beautiful Snow Scene and all the Delights in Act II from the littlest angels to exotic Arabian dancers, fiery Spanish dancers, bouncy puppets, a lively Candy Ribbon Dancer, Chinese dancers with parasols, and beautiful waltzing flowers.
Allegro’s Nutcracker production of twenty-five dancers is in its fifteenth year. Allegro is a semi- professional dance company based in Wausau and has become known for their Bedtime Story Productions performed at the Grand Theater in Wausau. Allegro Regional Dance Theater’s dancers pass a yearly audition and come from different studios in North Central Wisconsin. This year’s dancers come from The Judy Peterson Dance Studio, Wausau Dance Academy, Minocqua Dance, Allegro Ballet School and Community Ballet Program. The dancers performing are: Dwayne Balk (Drosselmeyer), Levi Ballenger (Nutcracker), Kennedy Bueno, Emma Bunkelman (Clara), Liberty Christianson, Liberty Garbor, Kyle Grass, Kayla Hartl, Erica Henry, Britin Johnston, Shyre Johnston, Tanya Johnston, Claire Juneau, Madeline Juneau, Megan Marhol, Vince Marohl, Valerie Olson, Nicole Przybylski, Stacy Przybylski, Kyrianna Smith, Samantha Sova, Zara Wirkus, Cameron Yaatenen, Kelsee Yaatenen and Kylie Yaatenen.
Assigned seating Tickets are $7.00 for Children 12 and under and $8.00 for Adults. Advance ticket purchases are recommended, but tickets will also be available at the door for $1 more per ticket.
