Jan_ASMSU Intro to Avalanches w/ Field Course
The Saturday field session is full. Only the Sunday field session is available.
PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED
The Friends of GNFAC and ASMSU Outdoor Rec are sponsoring this course.The lectures will be held on Wednesday and Thursday evenings. The first 100 students to register will have a Saturday Field Session. All remaining students will have a Sunday Field Session.
Different topics are presented each evening. Topics include: avalanche terrain recognition, the affect weather has on avalanche hazard, the development of the mountain snowpack, decision making skills, and basic search and rescue procedures.
Participants in the field course should have basic skiing and snowboarding skills with the appropriate equipment to negotiate “groomed” intermediate ski runs. Please bring skins or snowshoes for uphill travel. Although not required, an avalanche rescue beacon, shovel and probe will be very helpful for the field session.
You MUST attend both classroom sessions to attend a field session.

***Field Sessions***The first 100 students to register will have their field session on Sat, Jan 25, 2014 @ Bridger Bowl, 9:15a m-3:00pm. All other students will have their field session on Sunday, Jan 26th @ Bridger Bowl, 9:15am- 3:00pm.
