50/50:
Tying in with a climbing partner means more than just working a few pitches or sending the crux together. It symbolizes an intersection of two approaches to the same sport, and how climbers at either end of a rope share similar goals. For renowned alpinists Ines Papert and Sarah Huenekin, the nexus of their aspirations comes as they both climb past the age of 50, inspired to keep pushing harder to achieve their full potential, while relentlessly working to better understand each other as climbing partners, as well as themselves.

Ephemeral:

As the ice climbing season grows shorter each year, ice and mixed climber Jeff Mercier is driven into Iceland’s unforgiving glacial landscape. Faced with an ever-shifting medium and treacherous terrain, Jeff pushes his own limits as well as the boundaries of his sport. Jeff will be presenting a Q&A session after the screening.

Barry Blanchard:
No stranger to the Bozeman Ice Festival family, Barry Blanchard is a legendary alpinist, mountain guide, and writer who's spent his life on some of the world's steepest, coldest, most complicated faces. From the Canadian Rockies to the Himalaya, he has helped push alpine climbing into harder, riskier terrain. Readers may know him from his first memoir, THE CALLING, where he traced the route from a difficult childhood to a life shaped by mountains. Now, Barry returns with THE ECHO: Stories from the Edge of Survival. The book follows the climbs, close calls, and hard-earned perspective that come after a lifetime on the wall.

Barry will join us here in Bozeman for an evening of stories and celebration of a life in high places.
