Experience the romance of 19th-century chamber music with the enchanting setting offered by the Rustic Manor 1848. This special 200th anniversary concert of the music of Clara Wieck-Schumann will feature pianist Joseph Lecher, cellist Alina Vazquez, violinist Lucas Scalamogna and lyric bass Thomas J. Weis.
Doors open at 6:00 pm for a pre-concert talk and reception. Attendees will be treated to light hor d'oeuvres and drinks will be available at a cash bar.

Artist Bio:
Lucas Scalamogna
Lucas Scalamogna has performed extensively as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestra
violinist throughout the United States, Canada, South America, Europe, and Asia. He has
appeared in prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall’s Isaac Stern Auditorium, the Kennedy
Center, Teatro Colón, and Shanghai’s Oriental Art Center. Dr. Scalamogna has also performed at
numerous international music festivals, including the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, the
Salzburg Festival, the PyeongChang Music Festival, and the Spoleto Festival. A versatile
musician, Dr. Scalamogna often premieres and records solo and ensemble works written by
living composers and performs in early music ensembles such as New Trinity Baroque. His
orchestral experience includes engagements with the Grant Park Orchestra, the Alabama
Symphony, the Charleston Symphony, and the Savannah Philharmonic.

Thomas J. Weis
Dr. Scalamogna is currently a member of the Augusta Symphony Orchestra, the ARCO Chamber
Orchestra, and the Georgia Symphony Orchestra. He also keeps an active teaching studio at the
University of Georgia Community Music School, where he teaches violin and chamber music,
and the Atlanta Music Academy. In addition, Dr. Scalamogna is often invited to teach
masterclasses and serve as faculty at music festivals in the United States and Argentina
throughout the year.

Thomas J. Weis
Showing his vocal versatility, Dr. Thomas J. Weis has appeared as leading man in Kiss Me Kate and The
Music Man with The Heartland Festival in Platteville, Wisconsin, Grandpa Moss in Skylight Opera
Theater’s production of The Tender Land, which aired on Wisconsin PBS in January 2003, and as Bass
Soloist in Handel’s Messiah with the Milwaukee Symphony. Thomas has performed leading and secondary
roles with a wealth of operatic, oratorio and symphonic, and musical theatre companies in the Midwest and
across the country. Thomas has sung as Bass Soloist in Bach’s Magnificat, Haydn’s The Creation, Verdi’s
Requiem, Mozart’s Requiem, Dvorak’s Stabat Mater, Brahms’ Requiem, and more.
Rena Archwemety Beyer from The Capital Times, in a classical review of Dvorak’s Stabat Mater wrote,
“Weis gave a moving bass solo in ‘Fac ut ardeat cor meum’. From his strong entrance with the brass
section to the emotion he conveyed, his interpretation of the text was outstanding”.
Mr. Weis embodied the title role of Figaro in the University of Wisconsin-Madison Opera program’s Le
Nozze di Figaro of W.A. Mozart. In the Opera Review for the Wisconsin State Journal, Jay Rath stated
“As Figaro, Thomas Weis has a voice that is warm and mellow but with an edge like good black coffee”.
Thomas has been an active voice teacher and performer at Carroll University in Waukesha, Wisconsin for
the past eighteen years, offering recitals, master classes, and numerous faculty collaborations. Dr. Weis is a
member of NATS (National Association of Teachers of Singing), and serves on the Wisconsin NATS
board. Dr. Weis served as vocal coordinator and was honored to be the director of the Carroll University
Men’s Chorus, which he founded the fall semester of 2014.
