Dr. Jose Francisco Barros, DDS is an Endodontist currently practicing in Miami, Florida. He is a graduate of Emory University School of Dentistry and did his specialty training at Nova Southeastern University. He is a member of the American Association of Endodontics and the Florida Association of Endodontics. He serves as a professor of endodontics at both Nova Southeastern University and at the Mount Sinai Hospital GPR program.

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

Differentiate common endodontic emergencies using patient history, clinical exam, and diagnostic testing.

Perform a systematic diagnostic protocol for patients with acute orofacial pain.

Interpret radiographic and CBCT findings to identify unusual conditions such as resorption, calcifications, and atypical lesions.

Distinguish odontogenic pain from non-odontogenic sources through clinical evaluation.

Formulate evidence-based emergency treatment plans addressing pain, infection, and treatment timing.

Determine when referral is indicated for complex endodontic cases.
