Joe Gransden Big Band in support of Cafe 290!
Featuring Joe Gransden and his 16 Piece Big Band.

For over 25 years, Cafe 290 has been acclaimed as an Atlanta jazz and big band institution, and is renowned as both the hottest and coolest place in Atlanta – at the same time!
Throughout the club’s history as one of the country’s most respected venues for mainstream, contemporary and funk jazz, there have been frequent cameo appearances by the most talented and well-known national and international musical performers, among them Kenny G, Clint Eastwood, Venessa Williams, Jennifer Holliday, Spyro Gyro, Freddie Cole, The Ohio Players, George Lopez, Ray Romano, Bill Burr, Jamie Fox etc... "My goal has always been to take jazz to the maximum and expose jazz lovers to the best performers the world has to offer,” exclaimed the Club’s owner and Atlanta music-scene icon, John Scatena.
Nevertheless, as is the case with many live music venues around the world, Café 290 and its employees have been severely impacted by the business closures in response to Covid19. To preserve a post-covid future for this great institution, Café 290 desperately needs the financial support of the jazz community that has supported the club throughout its long history.
On Saturday, May 16th, the Big Green Egg Company – another of Atlanta’s institutions – will host a virtual fundraising concert to help Atlanta Cafe 290 stay in business.
The show will feature Café 290 stalwart Joe Gransden and his Joe Gransden and His 16 Piece Big Band, performing at the iconic club, safely distanced and without guests of course. “The Club’s owner, John Scatena, has spent most of his life pouring his heart and soul into this music,” mused Gransden. “Cafe 290 is an institution in Atlanta, and the true home to Georgia’s jazz musicians and music lovers for over 30 years. I know I speak for the Atlanta music community when I say that we are committed to doing everything we can to help keep the doors open!”
For an evening of great jazz, and to show support for the club, please tune in and enjoy the music, stories and interviews. We hope you will show your support by donating generously and by sharing the video links with friends and family!
As John Scatena is fond of saying, "When the music starts, the magic begins!"
