Medical Errors & Human Trafficking - Florida Mandated Courses (3 CDE)
Dr. Francisco M. Granda, DMD, MS, MD is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and has dual degrees in medicine and dental medicine as well as a master’s degree in pharmacology. Since his retirement from active duty in the United States Air Force, Dr. Granda has focused on his private practice in Miami as well as serving as Chair of Oral Surgery at the University of Florida School of Dentistry, Hialeah Campus.
Preventing Medical Errors
As required by the Florida Legislature, Section 456.013(7) - this two-hour course includes root-cause analysis, error reduction and the prevention of medical errors. The purpose of this course is to provide an overview of the problem of medical errors, factors contributing to the occurrence of these errors, and steps that can be taken by institutions and individual care providers to reduce medical errors.
Human Trafficking
New State Mandated Training HB 851 outlines several changes to human trafficking laws by creating a new requirement for various health care practitioners, including dentists and dental hygienists to take a one-hour CE course on human trafficking by Jan. 1, 2021. This is a one-time only CE requirement and the one-hour is included in the total number of CE hours required for dentists and hygienists’ license renewal.
