Innovation in Implant Prosthodontics

Gerald Niznick DMD MSD is known as the "Godfather” of modern implant design and is currently President and CEO of Paragon Implant Manufacturing. Dr. Niznick graduated from the University of Manitoba Dental School in 1966, (renamed the Dr. Gerald Niznick College of Dentistry in 2018). He earned a Certificate in Prosthodontics from USC in and a Master’s degree in Prosthodontics from Indiana University. Dr. Niznick was the founder of Core-Vent (today Zimvie) and Implant Direct (today part of Envista/NobelBiocare). He has 35 US dental implant patents with 2 more pending as of September 2026. The internal conical connection, (Niznick Patent #4,960,381 Filed 1987, Issued 1990) has become the cornerstone of modern implant design.  Dr. Niznick has received Honorary Doctorate degrees from the University of Manitoba and Tel Aviv University as well as many honors from dental organizations including ICOI, AAID and Alpha Omega Dental Fraternity. The Paragon Implant Company, founded in 2022 by Dr. Niznick, is creating a paradigm shift in dental implant treatment. Its new implant systems are designed and priced to make implant dentistry more accessible to the patient and more predictable and profitable for the clinician.
