On a night of fun in August that turned out better than any of us could have imagined, Retro 78 was created. What started as a good jam is now a band with a mixture of modern & traditional bluegrass, gospel and country music. Retro 78’s goal is to revisit and refresh some classic bluegrass music while bringing a high energy experience to the audience. The band is made up of powerhouse vocals and one-of-a-kind musicianship. Singing lead, harmonies, and playing rhythm guitar is Kevin Street along with his dad, playing bass and singing lead and harmonies, Mike Street, both from Forest City, NC. The vocalists are rounded out with the addition of Clint Groves from Clinton, SC singing lead and harmonies, as well as, playing both rhythm and lead guitar. Additionally, bringing a full sound and more instrumentals is Jacob Turnbill on fiddle from Shelby, NC, Jacob Jackson on the mandolin, and Hunter Motts on the banjo both from Boiling Springs, SC.
